Where in the World is Sita Sings the Blues?

Please check the ever-growing show list. Sorry it’s not better organized; you have to scroll down in chronological order from past to future. It’s just me and my Momz trying to keep track here.

I’m leaving on Sunday for these two:

Sita and I will be bopping around other parts of Israel too, according to the US State Department (!), who is sponsoring my trip (how that was arranged I do not know). I’ll be in Athens Sept. 25-29. Whee!

  1. wow, I was born in Rehovot, and I didn’t even know they had a women’s film festival!! Damn, i would’ve entered my animation this year.
    Have fun!

  2. Dear Nina, I attended the Tribeca Film Festival’s screening of Sita Sings the Blues and fell in love with it. I was VERY surprised that you didn’t have distribution then (I remember what you said about distributor’s responses – if a man ruining a woman’s life is not universal enough, than what is)? Anyway, I just came across this article and thought about you: http://www.peterbroderick.com/writing/writing/maximizingdistribution.html

Maybe it will open up a new perspective for you? I don’t know, but I wanted to share it anyway. All the best…

  3. Finally saw the whole Sita at Ottawa. Glad I waited to see it all on the big screen. I thought it would be great, and it was even better than I thought! Very popular with the audience, too. Sadly, it didn’t win the feature prize: worse, the prize went to Terra, a highly cliched “cute” sci-fi thing. Why???

    Congratulations, anyhoo…

  4. Hello Nina, I just saw your movie at Athens Int’l Film Festival and I have to say that it is a marvelous, funny, clever movie. Please can you let me know where I can find the OST and when you will be releasing the movie at DVD/HD.
    Keep up this great work!

  5. Just saw it in Calgary. I thought it was brilliant and am in awe of your creativity. Thank you so much for your efforts on this.

  6. Nina,

I hate to be ignorant by asking this question so I’ll just be ignorant. Will “Sita” be shown in NY or NJ any time soon? I live in central NJ and there is a fairly large Indian population in and around Edison/Metuchen, NJ, and I think your film would be a smash if shown in and around that area. Have you ever considered showing it in NJ? I think your work is far better than sometimes you take credit for!

    Warm regards,
