  1. Nina, we’ve had a hard time trying to get in touch with you, so I’m resorting to this method to get your comment. We saw Sita and met you last April at the Philadelphia Film Festival–as you know we were all entranced by it and by you, and now we want to ask if we could show Sita at our city-wide One Film Philadelphia project from Feb. 18-March 18, 2010. If you could come along with it,that would be splendid. Animation is the central subject of exploration during the month of events. (Ruth Perlmutter, whom you may remember meeting, started One Film to parallel One Book Philadelphia [Satrapi’s book Persepolis is their choice this year]; both projects are sponsored by the Free Library of Philadelphia.) If you can tell us how to get a copy that will be shown at the Library and let us know if you can come, we’ll try to arrange whatever day is best for you. With kudos for your IFC screening of Sita, and hopes to see it again in Philadelphia.

  2. I loved this movie, it’s a masterpiece! I hope that it will be shown in the Detroit area soon (I will contact the independent theatres in the area to inquire). Now that it has been shown for > 1 week, is it eligible for an Oscar next year? I read Roger Ebert’s blog back in December 2008 and I was so delighted to be able to see it a year later. I hope you are working on another film…
I’m telling everyone I know to watch it. Thank you so much for creating it.

  3. Just wondering because I couldn’t find it on your site

    Are you Indian?

While I like the film, I think in some ways it differs from the story of the Ramayana. Sita never did ask Rama to take her back. Hanuman went to save Sita and Rama killed Ravana. They were King and Queen after, that’s it! Unless it’s using the characters as inspiration for your life.

  4. Congrats, Nina. Hey, if you haven’t yet shown in Ann Arbor MI, I can introduce you to the folks at the Michigan Theater (an immaculately restored 1928 movie house between U-M’s campus and Main Street). Sita would show well there.
