I’m outta here

I’ll be in Europe until October 17 (on which date I will be speaking at MoMA!) so I may be virtually non-existent online. Or not, depending on how many free wireless connections are available and how well my netbook holds up.

Again, I’m gonna be in:

France:
September 25 – NancyA l’ère Libre Festival de la culture Libre
September 26 – Pessac, near Bordeaux
Journée des Cultures Libres
Armenia:
October 3-6 – YerevanReAnimania Animation Festival
London:
Oct. 14-16 – Power to the Pixel Conference

Have fun while I’m away! Don’t burn the house down!

  1. Dear Nina,

The 3 puppets in Sita Sings the BLues, I recognise the Sita one is Malay style, the monkey one is Indian in style, but what about the 3rd character? Where did it come from?

  2. Hi Nina !
Just a word to say thanks ! it was great to see you ! Hope you enjoyed the Journée… And the day after in Bordeaux as well ! 😉
    Best,
    Taro

  3. hi Nina!

I discovered your work 6 or 7 years ago and I really love what you do.
I was totally thrilled to see you were going to be in Nancy since I moved in this area last August (I’m French BTW). Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the screening and it totally sucks, I would have loved to meet you IRL.
I hope all goes well for you and Sita,
    Best regards,

    Lucie

  8. I’m an Indian and thoroughly enjoyed ‘Sita Sings the Blues’. I read a bit about some of the hate that you are getting from the religious fuddy-duddies and I would like to send you some love instead 🙂

Incidentally, October 17th is Diwali in India which “celebrates the return of Rama, King of Ayodhya, with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana to Ayodhya after a 14 year exile, and a war in which he killed Ravana. It is believed that the people of Ayodhya lit ghee lamps along the way to light their path in the darkness. Since Ram traveled from South India to his kingdom in North India, he passed through the south earlier. This is the reason why the festival is celebrated a day earlier in South India. Deepavali usually comes 19 or 20 days after Dasara.” [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diwali ].

    Thanks again!
