SYNOPSIS
Sita is a goddess separated from her beloved Lord and husband Rama. Nina is an animator whose husband moves to India, then dumps her by email. Three hilarious shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic Ramayana. Set to the 1920’s jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw, Sita Sings the Blues earns its tagline as “the Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told.”  Played over 200 Film Festivals and winner of over 15 awards including Gotham awards, Berlinale, Annecy, Athens and more. SPREAD THE WORD!  FilmKaravan is launching an independent, grass roots distribution effort for SITA and we need your help to make sure this little film makes it big. Please contact info@filmmkaravan.com with suggestions on how you can help (banner ads on your sites, newsletter links, host events or screenings in your city, promote DVD sales in you store, etc.). Here are some other ways to help easily.

NOT YET SEEN IT? Queue it on Netflix or pre-order on Amazon
SEEN IT? Post your review and rating on Amazon & Netflix and help this little film make a big impact!!
And if you LOVED IT? Tell you friends by donating your Facebook status to SSB or by forwarding this email to them.

SPECIAL OFFER
Sign up for the Karavan Film Club by July 28 and receive SITA SINGS THE BLUES and other Karavan Kollective titles straight to your mailbox before anybody else. PLUS: The first 150 people to sign-up for the Karavan Club will receive a limited edition Hanuman Pin free with the DVD!!

*There are now 3 Creator Endorsed “distributions” of Sita Sings the Blues DVDs:

1. The Limited Artist’s Edition ($100, 100% of profits support the artist) available at the Sita Sings the Blues Merchandise Empire
2. The QuestionCopyright Standard Edition ($20, 50% of profits support the artist) also at the Merchandise Empire
3. The new FilmKaravan edition ($19.99, 25% of profits support the artist) on Amazon, Netlflix, and hopefully lots of other places

The data on all 3 DVDs is exactly the same; it’s only the packaging that differs. FilmKaravan’s is in a larger, oblong plastic case, like most commercial DVDs; it sports a bright colorful cover which I designed myself (collect ‘em all!). Unlike me and QuestionCopyright.org, FilmKaravan actually knows what they’re doing and is already spreading the DVD farther than we have with our one little e-store. Vive la Commerce!

    Hi Nina,

I’ve seen this movie online and completely loved it. Congrats on making such a wonderful movie.

I am based in Mumbai and was wondering if you have any kind of process if we want to screen this movie in a college and put it up for a moderator-led discussion?

Do we just download the movie and show it? Or is it available in India for purchase? Anybody we could speak to here?

You could get in touch with me at the email id.

Will look forward to hear from you.

    Regards
    Janaki

    Hi, Nina,

Thank you for making such a wonderful movie. After reading the rave reviews on Cartoon Brew, I couldn’t wait to see it. I watched it a couple of months ago with my boyfriend. It was so much better than I could’ve ever anticipated!

I just bought the movie and a shirt from your store, so I hopefully can spread Sita throughout my campus when I go off to college in a month.

I wish you all the best! Keep up your amazing work!
