Got hooked by a Youtube video from Exodus and have been hungrily devouring all your stuff ever since!
Sita Sings the Blues is a wonderful and multi-modal work of art. Love the intertextuality and the playful interplay of narration and focalization, as Mieke Bal would call. Plus, the framing of the life-story pulled everything together.
Also, love your renditions of Exodus through the Seder lens and Pesach as family and tribal experience.
And, impressed by your rendering of the Apocalypse in capturing the mystery, imagery, and portent of the book. Good work!
Anyway, all the best to you and Yay! for being on the cutting edge!
Hey Nina – I love your animation and hadn’t run across anything of yours for a while and so just looked you up and I am so sorry to hear about your Covid troubles! I hope you will look into the vaccine Novavax. A lot of people with long covid symptoms have found relief after getting Novavax. And an online friend, Don Ford, talks about treatments in his twitter. https://x.com/DonEford/status/1905057635122253831 So Novavax, then maraviroc and atorvastatin and then remdesivir. I am not a medical doctor, but I have an immunocompromised family member so I read like virtually everything I can find about Covid. We have avoided Covid and every other transmissible illness since 2020 by wearing N95s around non household people. I want you to get better and keep making your amazing art!
hi Nina, some time ago I wrote to you requesting your permission to use your image of ‘god’ for an upcoming video for my channel that explores the connections between yoga and mythology. MANY months later I have finally completed this project, which has become part 1 of a 3-part series ‘from monotheism to mythology’. your image of god looking toward 5-yr old me is on the thumbnail video cover.
I want to thank you so much for your kindness and generosity for allowing me to use this image (and the one of Moses & co. coming out of the river on the other side). I too am on l.term disability, and like you I do my work quietly without funding. you accepted my humble donation of $25.00 in thanks for letting me use your work, which is far less than what your work is worth! I have also included ‘Seder-Masochism’ in the notes of my video summary, encouraging my viewers to watch it after watching my personal story of ‘growing up in missionary mythology’.
You are my hero.
Just an instant fan of your work!
