OK, I need a new web master. My current one is too overwhelmed to fix all the problems Media Temple has been causing, and move me to a new host. I put all my work out for free, and generate no direct income from my sites (no ads) but they are necessary for the Free Culture I so espouse. Anyone want to donate web mastering/tech help to Sita Sings the Blues, Mimi & Eunice, and ninapaley.com? Help me move and I’ll buy you a pizza….
I’d be happy to help! I work at a bank as a network admin, so I don’t have a brilliant webmaster type portfolio to show, but I do have all requisite webmaster type skills and would be pleased as punch to lend a hand.
hey
i love your work, and the fact that we are ‘on the same side’ in the culture wars. i don’t have nearly enough time to do all the things that probably need doing, but i’d be happy to throw a few hours your way from time to time for project work.
so, a bunch of people working on projects needs a manager, and maybe you don’t have that. but i’ll still offer some hours to you for web stuff. i have been a paid web monkey for longer than i care to admit, but let’s just say i need 2 digits to count the years.
i can also send a resume if you want.
Hey Nina,
Just sent you an email.
I don’t have the ability to take on another project right now, but if you do get a knowledgeable webmaster, I would like to offer a hosting recommendation.
NearlyFreeSpeech.NET is an excellent web hosting company. They are dedicated to free speech on the internet and have the best value in hosting that I have seen (and I’ve looked). You only ever pay for what you use and never have to worry about massive charges for going over on your bandwidth. Their pricing scheme also makes it so that the more traffic you get (and the longer you keep your site with them) the cheaper your bandwidth gets.
They’ve also got a good support system set up. If you don’t need tech support then you don’t have to pay for it. You can always avail yourself of their support forum, which is populated with highly knowledgeable users as well as the support team themselves.
I’ve been with them for years and couldn’t be happier.
Hi Nina, I use HawkHost.com. I’m a web designer and have switched domains for people in the past. I wouldn’t say I’m an expert though. If you need any advice send me an email and I’ll see what I can do to help.
