Eye mask design in progress

First I made this one…
Then I made this one…
Then I posted them on social media, where the feedback favored the hands…
This morning I designed this one, which combines traits of the first 2 designs.
Then I took this blurry selfie, because it’s raining this morning and very little light is coming through my windows.
A few more tweaks…
Ah, there we go. Still blurry, but the design feels much better to me.

  1. I love these! Will you sell the masks?

(By way of introduction, I have long loved “Sita Sings the Blues” and was telling a friend, who was admiring my black t-shirt with the gold Balinese puppet on it, how wonderful it is. This in turn prompted me to send her the url for the Sita website, which prompted me to check out your blog.)

  2. Hi Nina. Years (and years, and years) ago I was a young Californian transplanted from Santa Cruz to Lawrence, KS for college. Your “Nina’s Adventures in Santa Cruz” was a fantastic connection to the life I had left behind in moving to what felt sometimes like a foreign country. It’s long past due, but I want to say thank you to you for your art, for serving as a lifeline for me.

  3. Do you want people to approach you, intrigued by this marvelous design, or stay away? Have you considered incorporating the international biohazard symbol?

  4. Beautiful, Nina and full of sassy energy!

Are your “helping hands” for sale?
