Further to my “disciplined” Crohn’s diet, it is like walking a tightrope. As long as I stay on the extremely narrow, I’m okay. But if I make even a small mistake, the consequences are swift and painful (and gross).
(Not a $150 Drawing, but looks like one.)
I wish that you didn’t have to contend with gut problems. That tightrope is really evocative. The tension is almost unbearable at times.
It’s always worrying when eating anything, because you never know when something which was safe for decades, right up to the last time you ate it, is suddenly going to provoke a reaction.
And then there are the helpful people who know nothing at all about it, or don’t realise that every individual sufferer has different triggers, but are determined to make suggestions anyway. My favourite (not) comments are always a variation on ‘have you tried [‘alternative’ practitioners / herbs / homeopathy]?’
